Honest Therapy. Real Results.

I am Darian Newbeck, a licensed clinical social worker with about ten years of experience helping adults work through addiction, trauma, and the patterns that keep repeating. I am not a clipboard-and-turtleneck therapist. I’ll be compassionate, hold space for the messy parts, and I won’t just tell you what you want to hear.

Evening and weekend appointments. Online across Florida, Massachusetts, and Texas. In person in Wellington and Fort Lauderdale.

Who I Work With

Most of the people who find me are somewhere in between. Between who they were and who they are becoming. Between the crisis and the version of life they actually want.

You might recognize yourself here:

  • You’re past the first year—and now recovery starts asking different things of you.

  • You’re entering a new chapter with more responsibility, more expectations, and a quiet fear that you’re not ready for what’s being asked of you.

  • When things finally get quiet, the memories you’ve spent years outrunning start getting louder.

  • You are neurodivergent and tired of therapy that was clearly not built for how your brain works

  • You are the eldest child, the responsible one, the person everyone else leans on and don’t have anyone there to support you

  • You have spent time in inpatient care, residential treatment, or half-way house, and you are trying to find a new normal

  • You are a man who was never taught how to be emotionally available, and someone you love needs you to learn

  • You are rebuilding your relationship with faith or spirituality, or working out what to do with the version you left behind

And if you have been told you are too much, or a therapist decided you were not a good fit, I want you to know that is often the person I work best with.

What I Help With

Most of my clients bring more than one of these at the same time, and that is normal. I do not ask people to sort themselves into a single category before we start.

Dual Diagnosis

Mental health and substance use rarely show up separately. Treating one while ignoring the other is why so many people cycle back. We work on both, at the same time, in the same room.

Trauma and PTSD

Including complex trauma, adverse childhood experiences, and the kind of trauma that does not look dramatic from the outside but shaped everything anyway. I am trained in Hypnotherapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), and I use them when they fit, not by default.

Stigmatizing Diagnoses

Some diagnoses carry a lot of stigma—including from clinicians. Whether you have been diagnosed with a personality disorder, bipolar disorder, dissociative identity disorder, or another mental health condition that has been misunderstood or reduced to a label, I do not treat your diagnosis as a character flaw or your entire identity. It is something we can better understand, work with, and learn to navigate together.

I also work with clients through relationship issues, grief, self-harm, passive suicidal thoughts, severe and persistent mental illness, and life transitions that didn’t go according to plan.

What Therapy With Me Is Actually Like

The question people ask me most before booking is some version of: will you be gentle with me, or will you push me?

Both. That is the whole answer.

As a clinician it is my job to walk you through the hardest parts of life and help you get the things you want out of life. I’m not here to recreate the relationships that taught you therapy meant being judged, controlled, or talked down to. If you have built something that is not working, I will point at it, and then you get to decide what you want to do about it.

I think of therapy a little like walking through a museum together. You bring in the pieces of your life—the beautiful, the broken, the things you’d rather hide. We look at them together, get curious about what they mean, and you decide what you want to keep, change, or leave behind.

A Few Other Things Worth Knowing:

No topic is off limits.

Whatever you have been carrying that felt too strange or too shameful to say out loud, you can say it here.

You can ask me for what you need.

You have a voice in how we do this work. You get to tell me what you need, what isn’t working, and what you want to try instead.

I will match your effort.

If you keep showing up and doing the work, so will I. We move in step, and nobody gets left behind.

I am a therapist, not your friend.

My job is to create enough safety that you can finally stop managing everyone else and pay attention to yourself.

How I Work

Therapy Is a Conversation, Not a Performance

Therapy is clinical work, but it is also a relationship. How we work together matters just as much as the tools, interventions, and approaches I bring into the room.

You do not need to walk into our first session and tell me the worst thing that has ever happened to you. Safety is built over time—through consistency, boundaries, trust, and knowing you can be honest without being judged, pushed, or punished.

At the end of the day, you are the one who has to live your life. My job is not to make decisions for you or tell you who you should be. My job is to help you better understand yourself, recognize patterns, develop useful skills, and make choices that align with the life you want to build.

EMDR, ART, and Hypnotherapy for Trauma

I am certified in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and ART (Accelerated Resolution Therapy), and trained in Heart Centered Hypnotherapy and Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT). My general approach is person-centered, strength-based, solution-focused, and trauma-informed.

What that means in practice is that I choose the tool based on you. Your motivation, your emotional safety, your personality.

I am currently completing certification in Clinical Sex Therapy through the Modern Sex Therapy Institute, because human sexuality deserves careful, evidence-based care rather than avoidance.

What Happens After You Reach Out

You are not going to get a scheduling assistant or a queue. You get a real person.

1

You send a message.

Contact form, text, email, or a phone call, whichever is easiest. Tell me as much or as little as you want.

2

I respond personally.

I answer during the day and into the evening, and on weekends too. I stop at 9pm because I am a person with a life, which is also a thing I will encourage you to have. (Typically respond within 24 business hours)

3

We find a first appointment.

(typically schedule within the same week of insurance being verified and intake is completed)

4

You complete your intake paperwork.

Before we meet, you complete your intake and consent forms. The consent paperwork must be completed before your session can take place.

5

The first session is a conversation, not an interrogation.

We talk about what brought you here and what you want to be different. You do not need to have it organized or explained well. That is what I am for.

And here is something I tell everyone early: not every session has to be a working session. Some weeks you will want to dig in. Some weeks you will want to talk about a show you are watching. That is fine. Though I may ask which character you relate to and why, and then we are working anyway.

I would rather you know this before you contact me than find out after you have gotten your hopes up.

Evenings, Weekends, and Online Sessions Across Florida, Massachusetts and Texas

When clients tell me why they chose me over someone else, availability comes up first. Ahead of my training, ahead of my specialties.

Hours: Monday through Thursday, 9am to 9pm. Saturday and Sunday, 9am to 4pm

If you work a schedule that has made therapy impossible before, or you live somewhere in Florida without many options, this is workable. Online sessions are real therapy, not a lesser version of it.

Clinical Supervision for Clinicians Doing Non-Traditional Work

This section is for clinicians, not clients.

I supervise registered social work interns in Florida as a Qualified Supervisor, one on one and in groups.

The people who do well with me tend to work outside the standard outpatient setting. Mobile crisis. Clinical case management. Community work where the clinical frame is not handed to you. I can make almost any interaction clinical, and teaching that is the part of this job I love most.

I will expect you to do your own work. I will ask about your ethics, and I will keep asking. Supervision is a serious amount of responsibility to take on for someone, and I take it seriously.

Raising the next generation of clinicians is the part of this career I want to be remembered for.

Questions People Ask Before Booking

Latest From the Blog

I write about recovery, trauma, and the parts of this work that do not fit neatly into a caption. If you want to get a sense of how I think before you book, start here.

Start Supervision With Me

The difficult client. The decision you keep replaying. The situation where the textbook answer did not quite fit what was happening in front of you.

That is what supervision is for. We will slow it down, look at what happened, and help you build the judgment to handle the next one with more confidence.

I respond personally, usually the same day or within 24 business hours.
